Coffs Harbour

Coffs Harbour POP 25 850. A very attractive holiday destination, Coffs Harbour is in an area of contrasts: beaches, high mountains, dense rainforest and banana plantations.

Main Attractions: Long stretches of sand and surf have been drawing visitors to Coffs Harbour for decades. Park, Jetty and Boambee beaches edge the city, and to the north some hideaway beaches include Moonee, Emerald and Sandy. The Big Banana theme park is perhaps the most popular tourist attraction. Hard to miss with its huge concrete banana on the Pacific Hwy, it is open daily. There are plantation tours, hydro¬ponics exhibitions, a toboggan run, banana barn, food, souvenirs and a lookout; something for the whole family to enjoy. The Pet Porpoise Pool has performing dolphins and sea-lions, with daily shows. There is also a native fauna sanctuary and a reef tank. Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve is an excellent spot to see whales and muttonbirds in season.
